Circle of the Land — Sagor från Valoris

The Circle of the Land keeps the old lore — the traditions of mystic druids who gather in sacred groves to trade knowledge and rites older than any written word. Its druids bind themselves to a particular kind of country, be it burning desert, frozen waste, gentle woodland, or steaming jungle, and draw their magic straight from the character of that ground. What the land is, the Land druid can become in spellwork: its fires, its frosts, its creeping vines.

This is the scholar's path among druids, a keeper of memory and place. A Land druid reads a valley the way others read a page, knows which terrain will shelter the party and which will swallow it, and carries a spellbook written not in ink but in geography — one that rewrites itself each time they set foot somewhere new.

3rd Level

Circle of the Land Spells

You choose a kind of land — arid, polar, temperate, or tropical — and can swap that choice whenever you finish a Long Rest. Whichever you pick, you gain a set of always-prepared spells that grow with your level and can be cast even while in a Wild Shape form. Each land offers its own arsenal: arid burns (Burning Hands, Fireball, Wall of Stone), polar freezes (Hold Person, Sleet Storm, Cone of Cold), temperate strikes swift (Misty Step, Lightning Bolt, Tree Stride), and tropical festers (Web, Stinking Cloud, Insect Plague).

3rd Level

Land's Aid

As a Magic action, you expend a use of Wild Shape and target a point within 60 feet, where blossoms and thorns erupt in a 10-foot-radius Sphere. Each creature of your choice there makes a Constitution save (DC 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your Proficiency Bonus), taking 2d6 Necrotic damage (half on a success), while one creature of your choice regains 2d6 Hit Points. The bloom grows stronger as you do — 3d6 at 10th level, 4d6 at 14th.

6th Level

Natural Recovery

The land refills your reserves. Once per Long Rest you can cast one of your prepared Circle spells without expending a spell slot. And when you finish a Short Rest, you can recover expended spell slots with a combined level up to half your Druid level (rounded up), none of them level 6 or higher — once between Long Rests.

10th Level

Nature's Ward

The land's resilience becomes your own. You are immune to the Poisoned condition, and you gain Resistance to a damage type tied to your current land — Fire in the arid, Cold in the polar, Lightning in the temperate, Poison in the tropical. The country you serve now shields the one who serves it.

14th Level

Nature's Sanctuary

As a Magic action, you expend a use of Wild Shape to raise spectral trees and vines in a 15-foot Cube within 120 feet, lasting 1 minute. You and your allies within it gain Half Cover, and your allies there share the benefits of your Nature's Ward. As a Bonus Action, you can shift the sanctuary up to 60 feet to any ground you can see — a moving fastness of living wood.
